Like a sinner before the gates of heaven

Oracle didn't normally think of herself as vindictive. But there were a tiny handful of people she'd make an exception for. And apparently no one had wanted to pay to bury Joker's body. Which suited Babs' plans.
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The lord bless and keep you. And never let you loose in this world again." With that, Oracle pushed the big red button to start the crematorium furnace. She watched hungrily through polarised lenses as the flames devoured and disintegrated the corpse of the man who had killed and crippled so many.
She was, of course, recording the burning for posterity - but one of the advantages her memory brought was that she herself would always remember the Joker disintegrating before her eyes. Even after he'd disintegrated to ash, she still wasn't done with him. But she herself felt freeer (if slightly more guilty) than she'd done in years.
The last touch was almost a public service. She rolled down to a building site (that currently looked like a crater, having been burned down and demolished a couple of years ago - and the work had only begun that morning) in central Gotham (ignoring the wolf-whistles from a couple of builders before the foreman told them to knock it off, and not to wolf-whistle the boss). And threw the Joker's ashes into the cement mixture, as she'd agreed beforehand with the foreman.
The workmen were building a three story building - above ground it was a book and coffee shop with free WiFi, a few internet terminals. The top floor was to be a dance studio. Below ground there was going to be a nightclub with enough security to keep even a Bat happy. The cement was going to be used as the foundations. That way the good citizens of Gotham all got the opportunity to both dance and piss on the Joker's grave. And scattered around and encased in concrete, it would be much harder for the Joker to be resurrected should anyone be crazy enough to try.

Date: 2009-01-09 04:20 pm (UTC)I was wondering what you were thinking/planning with your next post--I don't know if Cassie and Cissie are roommates again or not, among other things, but it does look awesome. (Also, my AIM is on my profile; we have family visiting this week, so it's crazy, but normally I'm almost always on if that's easier for you.)
Re: OOC
Date: 2009-01-09 05:34 pm (UTC)I hadn't assumed they were room mates - but Oracle is going to phone Cissie, Greta, and Traya and ask them all to cover for Cassie on the grounds Cassie isn't actually allowed to bunk off and perform superheroics in class time. (If they all refuse, which is always possible, Oracle is going to play merry hell with the fire alarms).
What Oracle is planning is that she has a track record of recruiting heroines who have lost their way, and putting them back on their feet. And Cassie is very definitely a superheroine who has lost her way. The reason Oracle thinks she's lost her way is that she's been defending Titans Tower too long and just been using her powers for super-powered brawling. And so she wants to remind her of what it's all about when you get down to it - that it is good vs evil - people trying to hurt people vs people trying to save them, and that Cassie is on the good side of the line. (A complete reversal of her early missions for Dinah where the message was "It's not as simple as that").
What I'm planning (as distinct from Oracle) is also to drop in some of Oracle's stalkerish tendencies (little things such as already having communication-earrings prepared that match Cassie's existing earrings.
